ANNUAL AUGUST BREAKFAST

The Annual August Breakfast hosted by the OGCA was held on Saturday, August 23, at 9 am at the Olin Street Firehouse.

The breakfast, which had nearly 100 attendees, provided an opportunity for us to hear directly from a number of elected local officials as well as the ability to socialize.  The participating officials were:  NJ State Assemblywomen Margie Donlan and Luanne Peterpaul, Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone and Neptune Township Mayor Robert Lane.

Each official spoke briefly about current initiatives.  Much time was devoted to hot topic issues — taxes, the ADP method of annual valuation utilized in Monmouth County and the need to withdraw from this “Pilot”program, the Neptune School budget and its funding, AirBNB’s, parking and lack of enforcement of illegal parking, and park maintenance. It was a lively discussion with lots of questions and comments.

A high point of the breakfast was Paul Kaplan’s introduction of Kelly Ryan, Nagle’s new owner, who reported that the long vacant Nagle’s will reopen next Spring.

The Breakfast concluded at 11:00am. Respectfully submitted by Theresa Checki, Secretary of the OGCA.
