OGCA Mission

The mission of the Ocean Grove Community Association is to enhance the quality of life in Ocean Grove. The OGCA provides a forum for members to meet and exchange views and information about issues that affect the quality of life in Ocean Grove, and a venue for members to meet and form ties with their neighbors and the community. In addition, membership in a town-wide organization creates “strength in numbers”. The impact of Ocean Grove homeowners as a group is more powerful than that of any single individual, providing a more effective means of addressing local issues.

Members are active in other local organizations and in local government, such as the Neptune Township Historical Preservation Commission and Zoning Board of Adjustment. The OGCA played a leading role in persuading state and local authorities to investigate and improve conditions in local boarding houses that had become home to large numbers of patients de-institutionalized by state mental health facilities. A direct result of this effort was the formation of the Neptune Township Rooming and Boarding House Commission. The Commission was charged with ensuring that rooming houses in Ocean Grove were safe and secure, and that owners complied with applicable regulations with respect to the treatment of residents. With only two rooming houses remaining in Ocean Grove, the Commission was dissolved in 2013.

The OGCA continues its tradition of community involvement by closely monitoring development in Ocean Grove to ensure that it is consistent with the priorities of Ocean Grove homeowners and is in keeping with the historic character of Ocean Grove.
